Atlantis Bahamas Vacation
87Once we got checked in it was officially time to start our Atlantis Bahamas vacation. We were in the Beach Tower. It was nice that we had a water view. At first they didn't give us a water view because I don't think it was included in our reservation, but on the itinerary that I printed out it said water view. So, I got them to change it.
The little guy was excited to get to the pools and start swimming and he actually told us he wanted to check out the beach first. I was a little surprised by that. We walked down to the Atlantis beach. He had a blast in the crashing waves but eventually to much salt water in the mouth got the better of him and we decided to head up to the pool areas.
I think all Atlantis Bahamas vacation packages incude access to the water areas as part of the cost of your stay. The first thing you need to do is go to one of the pool huts to get a wristband. All you have to do is show your room key to them and they get some ready for you. Without it, you'll eventually get noticed and I supposed kicked out. As part of that you also get access to beach towels so you don't really need to pack them. I would make sure that you bring other things like sunscreen, goggles, cameras, etc with you so you don't have to get them at the resort. I didn't price them but figure they will be more expensive. However, if you forget, they have that stuff available.
The pool is a few minutes walk from the Beach tower but it wasn't too bad (until we walked back when we were tired...lol). Once we got up to the pool area we decided to make our way up to the Mayan Temple to the Serpent Slide. We figured that it would be a good place to start. What you do there is you get on a tube and it has some rapids areas and some drops culminating in a trip through aquarium that has sharks and some other fish in it. Our own problem there was that they had some sort of issue with the slide or communication so we had to wait around an hour to go three flights of stairs which was kind of a bummer. They didn't really provide any explanation as to what was going on so that would have been nice. As with all of the water slides, kids need to be at least 48" tall to ride them and I noticed that they do check. Our seven year old fit the bill there and enjoyed the slide once we got there.
I think the great thing about the Atlantis Bahamas vacation is the sheer number of water slides, pools and other water park features available. Once we got done with the Serpent Slide, we went over to the Mayan temple pool and hung out there. Our son like that alot because it had these two smaller slides for kids and he just loved them. We spent a couple of hours doing those alone. While I don't believe it was a salt water pool, it was sure salty and he complained about that so we moved on to the next pool over.
I think that pool was the Royal Baths pool. It was good but a little colder than the other one. We spent some time practicing our diving for these little toy torpedos. One of the nice things about that pool is that they have a little mosaic of a sun at the bottom. It was a little slick but we used it as a target.
A couple of things about the pools we found out is that they are open from 10 am to 7 pm. We were a little disappointed because we had hope to swim at night. They also have some lockers near the Mayan pool and some changing areas. The lockers are handy to put your cameras and other stuff in if you feel you need to secure your stuff. They have three sizes of lockers small ($5.00), medium ($7.00) and large ($10.00). Had we known this we would have maybe used them on the first day to pass some time. We got a medium sized one that would have probably worked on that day as well. You are expected to get the key back by 6 pm or it's a $50 dollar charge for a lost key. I kept the key wrapped around my wrist without any problems. I did see that you could get a wrist pack to wear although I am sure that they charge for that.
One of the first things that you should do when you first start taking advantage of your Atlantis Bahamas vacation package that you tune the hotel tv to channel two to watch the lowdown on all of the stuff you can really do at the resort.
If you are just reading this and are looking for Atlantis Bahamas vacation deals, I'd check their website. That is where I found the best deal when I was looking around. You'll probably find that it will cost you more to get there than the hotel visit (not including food).
Another thing I think we figured out is that an Atlantis Bahamas vacation is that it's really a kids destination even though they have stuff for adults. Kids will enjoy it immensely.

This does not appear to be a valid RSS feed.Spent a week at the Reef tower. Little disappointed that for 2 twelve year old boys for swim with the dolphins for 45 minutes, with pictures and parents to stand on the beach to watch them, cost was $500.00. Not worth it.
Nothing for 12 year old boys to do at night. Club Rush was closed. Paid full price for 12 year olds to stay at Atlantis, but they weren't allowed to go into the kids club called Crush. I think that if your paying adult price for 12 year olds, then let them into the 13 and older Crush club. The only think for the boys to do at nite was to go to the movies, u can only get them to do that maybe twice for a week.
I loved the resort, but what about activities for your guest. They have so much staff that they should be able to have activities at each hotel, such as water volleyball, beach volleyball, something to do besides just walk around your beautiful hotel.
